Krittika is fire that cuts. Agni is the deity, and the symbol is a blade — this is the Nakshatra of purification through burning away what is false. Krittika natives are direct to the point of discomfort, have a low tolerance for pretension, and are usually the person in the room who says the thing everyone was avoiding. The Sun's rulership gives them genuine authority and a need to be respected. They are also, in a way the other fire Nakshatras are not, nurturing: Krittika is associated with the Pleiades, the six mothers who raised Kartikeya. They feed people and they cut them, sometimes in the same conversation.

Military and defence, surgery, criticism and editing, teaching, metallurgy and engineering, cooking and the culinary professions, fire and energy industries, and quality control or audit — any role where the job is to find the flaw and say so.

Krittika natives are protective and generous partners with a sharp tongue. The Rakshasa gana means conflict escalates fast; they do not soften an argument. What they need is a partner secure enough not to be wounded by the bluntness, because the criticism is usually not withdrawal of affection — Krittika criticises what it is invested in.

Fire governs digestion here: acidity, ulcers, inflammatory conditions and skin eruptions are common. Eye strain and headaches also appear. Krittika natives run hot both physically and temperamentally, and cooling routines — diet, sleep, avoiding stimulants — do more for them than most interventions.

Sun remedies apply: offer water to the rising Sun, chant the Aditya Hridayam on Sundays, and donate wheat or jaggery. Managing the temper is the substantive remedy — Krittika's problems are nearly always self-inflicted through speech.
